Our Blanc de Noirs 2019 is a rare exception to our usual approach. While the Obsidian Wines label is typically reserved for wines grown exclusively on our own vineyard, this release reflects an earlier chapter—one of exploration and refinement that paved the way for our Blanc de Blanc 2022.
Crafted from 100% Merlot grown on the former Peacock Sky site, this wine continues a legacy of pushing méthode boundaries on a challenging island terroir. Building on our inaugural 2017 vintage, we fine-tuned the 2019 to better express our vision of Blanc de Noirs—rich, layered, and textural. Extended lees ageing of just over five years reveals notes of ginger pastry and custard, lifted by a vibrant peachy character.
Despite the vineyard’s elevation and early picking, the wine reaches around 12.5% alcohol. This subtle weight enhances the fruit profile, allowing for a restrained dosage of just 1 g/L and a finely balanced, elegant finish.
